With all of its history of top wines, the Carneros District AVA continues to be one of the best places in California for excellent Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. The Sonoma-Loeb Private Reserve is a perfect example of the best wines from this growing region. This wine is lavishly layered and well-balanced. Its aromas and flavors of tropical fruits and oak should make it an attractive accompaniment with lobster in a cream sauce. Excellent with king crab legs. Very balanced citrus and tropical notes. With just a hint of oak, this is reminiscent of a fine chardonnay of Burgundy.
This luxurious Chardonnay displays aromas of guava, apricot, and clementine, underscored by layers of crème fraiche, brioche, baking spices, and hazelnut. Elegantly toned acidity adds balance and structure to the rich and creamy palate, where flavors of citrus, lychee, and quince mingle with hints of spicy oak and buttery richness from malolactic fermentation.
